LE PRIARE NATURALISTIC AREA
The complex of underground quarries Le Priare is located just below Bellaguardia Castle (Castle or Giulietta). Its history is related to the construction of local fortifications.
The underground system originates from Soft Stone extraction, active until the Second World War. During the conflict they served as a shelter to the local population: between 1972 and 1985 they were used for mushroom production.
Excursions in quarries are available upon reservation featuring services of expert speleological guides. Reservations are recommended.
